Atomlar&#305;ndan elektron kaybeden al&#252;minyumun kristal yap&#305;s&#305;n&#305;n bozulmadan, y&#252;ksek ultraviyole radyasyona kar&#351;&#305; tamamen saydamla&#351;t&#305;&#287;&#305; g&#246;r&#252;ld&#252;. 

	&lt;p&gt;Oxford &#220;niversitesi, Fizik B&#246;l&#252;m&#252;nde g&#246;revli Prof.Justin Wark : "Bizim ortaya &#231;&#305;kartt&#305;&#287;&#305;m&#305;z daha &#246;nce kimsenin g&#246;rmedi&#287;i, maddenin tamamen yeni bir hali. Saydam al&#252;minyum sadece bir ba&#351;lang&#305;&#231;. Bizim meydana getirdi&#287;imiz maddenin fiziksel &#246;zellikleri, b&#252;y&#252;k gezegenlerinden i&#231;lerinde olu&#351;an durumlara e&#351; de&#287;er. Bununla birlikte, &#231;al&#305;&#351;malar&#305;m&#305;z, y&#252;ksek g&#252;&#231;l&#252; lazer patlamalar&#305;n&#305;n olu&#351;turdu&#287;u "minyat&#252;r y&#305;ld&#305;zlar&#305;n" yarad&#305;l&#305;&#351;&#305;nda meydana gelen olaylar&#305; anlamam&#305;za da olanak tan&#305;yacak. Elinizde mi, de&#287;il mi anlayamayaca&#287;&#305;n&#305;z bir madde. 2 graml&#305;k aerogel blok 2500 graml&#305;k a&#287;&#305;rl&#305;&#287;&#305; ta&#351;&#305;yabiliyor. Metalleri bile eritebilecek ate&#351; kaynaklar&#305;na kar&#351;&#305; yal&#305;t&#305;c&#305; olarak kullan&#305;labiliyor.
